Help me spot the differences!!! (please!)

Ok so this week has been quite strange, lots of not great things have happened. I wont bore you with the details, I'll focus on the good stuff - my car is back up and running better than before - and for only $71... I am NOT going to complain about that when the two quotes I had to fix it were $250 and $280!!!

Now Im going to ask you all a question... are these two cats the same!? I've never been faced with such an interesting query! a quick background- this cat has come to call my office home, and the other photos are from a family who's cat it may be.
For a tabby its pretty close, the grey stripe markings are nearly bang on - and the man has sent a few photos where I think the cat is still very young so hes not as big and the colouring is a bit lighter... I am HOPING LIKE MAD it really is his cat but dont want to get anyones hopes up, and I think I'm tying to think its NOT! but let me know what YOU think, and I think a random comment will deserve a small rak of something! either a cat or dog *thing*

ALL THE PHOTOS ON THE LEFT ARE THE "LOST" CAT AND ALL THE PHOTOS ON THE RIGHT ARE THE PHOTOS I'VE TAKEN.

OH and P.S W00t!!! its coming up my birrrrthdayyyyy, countdown is on- im not ashamed of my birthday and i make it well known, however I did have to ask someone else how old I was ! I love birthdays :D especially my own!

It really is hard to tell, but I think probably yes. If not, they are definately related. Probably not what you wanted to hear. No need to put me in for the RAK. Thanks, Roseann #2933

Yeah I think it's very possibly the same cat. If they not the same cat I would say related as well.

and ill point out too, that A) the ages of the mans photos are different ages (younger) and B) his nose is really sunburnt so looks a different colour although you can see the dark edges of it!

Looks spot on I say, but best way to tell is to have the man meet the cat and if the cat goes to him then yes, if hesitant may be his but been abused or neglected and is afraid of him. I hahve lost cats before and the people who found themdid this and my cats always came to me. Also you may want to have the man bring this cats fav toy. Cats favorited toys when they see them in motion will run right to it. I mean most cats love toys, but it is different when it is "their fav". I hope this helps sweety

Do you know how long the cat has been missing? The cat on the right seems to have more lighter areas, especially around the eyes. But some cats fur gets lighter as they age. I agree with Diane that I would have the family members come and see how the cat reacts to them and maybe the toys. I had a cat disappear for 6 months and then showed up. But I also had a cat disappear back in October and he has never come home. Did they say what the cats name was before? Maybe if you know that and you call the cat by that name it will come to you and that will also show it is their cat. Some cats do wonder, I have one that I see a few miles down the road and it comes to my house to eat, we live out in the county and I have strays showing up all the time. Of course it doesn't matter I have 5 of my own, each animal no matter what they are (raccoons, deer, possums, they get feed here).

Good luck and love to hear what happens. I know you are doing the right thing.
Oh another thing, did this guy say whether this cat was ever taken to a vet? If so, find out what vet and take it to the vet and the vet can tell you if it is the same cat.
Hope I am of some help. I rescue cats all the time. Even tried to save a deer that a neighbor had as a pet and when he moved he just left her out of her pen to fend for herself. We feed her and tryed to have a local zoo take her and they didn't come for her before deer season and haven't seen her since and afraid it is to late for her now.
I wish you the best of luck with this cutie.

First, that's tough question. I say maybe, in some comparisions they look like the same cat but in others they don't. Go with your gut on this. Maybe have the person come with the understanding that your not sure. I know I'm not a good help.

2. I love birthdays! and I am so happy to find another soul just as happy about birthdays (especially our own)

From the mark around his heck it looks like the same kitty.. I'd call whoever posted for the lost cat - they would know FOR SURE.. However the only difference i can see is the eyes (a little more yellow, but it's a photo ya know!)

I hope it is the lost kitty, it's soo hard to loose on and never get it back! I love my kitties and would cry forever if i lost one again!

I think it's the same cat...but what do I know. Shoot! I thought that your birthday was next month. My son's is next month and you're about the same age so I guess I figured that you both should have your birthdays in Feb. Needless to say, your card will be late. Sorry!

humm I think it might be the same one too, the only think tricky was the nose, but then you explained that.
I too would get the owners to come over with a fav toy or blanket and see what happens.
I hope for their sake it is.
PS what is the actual date of your birthday (not year - you can keep that secret if you like).

it's very close...my thought would be to have one of the adults come to see the kitty...having lost two this summer ask for the adult to come without the kids (so there are no heartbroken little ones)

PS. did you ask the cats name...if the cat answers it's probably right on...

As a cat owner, I would have to say that yes the cats are the same. Not sure about calling the cat by name. We had one that wouldn't acknowledge his name.

I would say have the owner come over and see if the cat goes to him/them. I would be so sad if I lost one of my furry kids!

I would have the "owner" come by and see if it's his cat or not....only he knows for sure. He sounds like someone that really cares about finding his cat after all he was willing to send in pictures.

Hey babe, it looks like the same cat to me. And enjoy your birthdays while you can; once you are over 35, they start to get pretty scary, lol...

That is the same cat.
