This is what happens with a bit of inspiration

Got the inspiration or perhaps "muse" is a better word from a friends 4D scan photos she generously posted on Facebook.. as most will know, anything that a friend posts on FB is fair game!! so i printed it and made this shabby chic card, I don't know Jo and Larry very very well, but they have always been good fun and generous with their friendship so I decided to create a welcome card to the "smidge" and i used things that I *think* suits them all as a family, shabby chic it is!! And tucked in there is the 4D scan - welcome to lil Smidge!

I'm TRYING to blog more often

It will only last for a week until I get bored ... or maybe not?
anyway. Today's special effort is this leaving card for a colleague... boy cards are so hard! Its kinda cute, used my new tiny attacher for the ribbon and meshed some chipboard and did all manner of things to the poor wee chipboard owl!

UH OH I have just realised, I was meant to do a boy birthday card tonight too... I WAS thinking about that a few hours ago, then got distracted by getting more Twilight Score music (not to be mistaken for the Twilight soundtrack... oh no, the score album is far more fun!)

I'll even put photos up!

Not a realllly eventful weekend, but had a great night last night at Queen: It's a Kind of Magic, this is the second time I've been and although the crowd was smaller, it was still great fun! helps that they supply alcohol in the form of Raro too.
This is me getting the autograph of lead guitarist "Brian May" - he prefers the "crotch" to sign on... nice one Trav! also happens to be my cousin from Aussie - so it was neat to catch up :D
Thanks to Kerry Sue and Scott for Chauffeuring me, Definite bonus to living in town that I'm pretty much on the way to everywhere!
And then this morning I decided to make a quickie card, using the scraps from "The Card" (Which by the way he hasn't received yet, there is an illness in the family and things are all over the place)

Look what I made!

It's taken me hmm, nearly two weeks and countless curse words, and many panicked msn messages to lots of people, but I think I am happy with "the" card.
The story begins like this, new male friend, hes not a mechanic, hes someone I knew many years ago. But... dilemma. Hes new right? and its his BIRTHDAY next week. there is NO way I cant do something special for him, hes a special kinda bloke, OOH and girls! he let the secret formula slip!!! "3 nights in a fortnight and NO more" <- boy secret! of course we have trashed his formula much to both of our suprise, but we have taken it upon ourselves to decree each new day is the start of a new fortnight... I digress. His birthday. what to do what to do!? he KNOWS I make paper stuff, the adorable man even came home and mentioned that he saw Warehouse Stationery doing a photo special for .12c each.. how cute is that!? of course I had to point out that I prefer matt photos only and the Warehouse can only do gloss.. but its the thought that counts right!?
So I took it upon myself to make something nice for him, he has a lovelyframed print in his house that I would love to take my scissors and ink to - its a lovely vintage sepia type print that I think is nice. and I have mentioned I would like to just cut that bit there and distress that edge and ink that bit and make sure the script bit is embossed etc etc... he just nodded politely and smiled. (I think he did wonder if he should perhaps "remove" the print but he left it)
SO in my infinite creativity (that was sarcasm by the way) I decided to recreate the print! in the manner in which *I* think would make it better.
So here it is:

The funny thing is - the one on his wall is NOT pink, NOT cupid, has NO music script, NO hearts .. etc etc - you get the idea?
Anyway. onto other things - who else is doing the CraftyTart Top Trend Scrapper! its gonna be HARD but I havent done anything in ages (see above 2 weeks and its for a 4.5 x3.5" card topper ffs) If you dont know what I'm talking about go subscribe to the emails and you too will be in the know!

Baby thank you cards

This is a baby thank you card for a friend, have about 25 to do, done most, used stamps and glimmer mist and netting (and thank god for stazon- the netting used to be pink!) Im a lil bit annoyed that the precut/scored cards are a little uneven, but I suppose it's still ok.
And I also think I should do something more to it, just not sure what yet.

Its ma Birthday!!!!!

I have some thingies to show you!!! the lovely easel we received last night from the Favourites preview last night, this is the gorgeous necklace that Ann made just for me, and of course I wore it today, and it is just soooo pretty! And then at work, I got a nice choccie birthday cake and a non scrapbooking non cardmaking friend took me at my work (for my love of handmade cards) and made me a card, her aunt had sent her a pack of Laura Ashley papers and embellishments, and Kate was a lil unsure what to do with it.... but she stepped up to the plate and made me this:
I love it and it means alot that my work mates take my lil hobby/obsession so seriously, its a pretty cool feeling! so THANKYOU kate!!!
gotta say thank you to everyone that emailed me too, I honestly love it - birthdays are when you get that random email from someone and think, OHHH i really need to chat to them, and ive done that a few times today, and i hope everyone used my birthday as an excuse to over indulge - in fact, i reckon you should keep the indulging going at least until Sunday!!!

I better post on Birthday Eve!

I know lots of people prefer to have no fuss on their birthday's.. thats NOT me!!! I love it, and I like to make everyone happy for me too, and who isn't happy when it's someone else's birthday!?? even if it is someone you don't know well or someone you just happen to see in the shop, its always nice!

Sooo I went to the Favorite Product evening at NZ Scrapbook where We got some great journalling tips, and as normal, the product was brilliant as well!

And thank you to Kerry Sue and Christine C who both made me lovely cards, much appreciated and will be on the wall asap!

This weather! awesome!!

I went for a drive yesterday ( well Wednesday) to see my sis and the neices who are now home after 2 weeks in the South Island. I love the farm, and I had forgotten just how much I love the drive down on a day where the weather is obliging, (helps that the car isn't overheating and the clutch is fine too)These are completely irresponsible shots of me holding the camera out the window and just holding my finger on the button along Hauraki Plains, I always have the window right down by this stage to let the farmie smell in! LOVE silage too!
The Kopu- Hikuai Bridge, one day they say they are going to have a new bridge, that will be so sad, been driving ovr this bridge all my life and still love it!then amongst all the things that sisters talk about, she reminded me about the swallows nest in the wood shed,
I came up with the bright idea of taking a photo to see what was in the nest, because we really didnt think there were any birds in there... until I take the photo and the flash automatically made them pop their heads up - and this is what the result was!!!
Then tonight I went to Liz's and hung out with that bunch, and whilst they were busy chatting and organising and stuff, I got these cards done, I got custody of the Cuttlebug yesterday so was ever so keen to use it on some more Christmas cards! and those Christmas stamps (in a line) are borrowed from Tracy, they are stampin up! ones that are so neat!

You wouldn't believe it.

Tonight's nicked sketch/card idea was from Tracey L, she has been doing really well limiting her internet time and she came up with these neat cards! which I promptly nicked off with the idea and did mine.

Then I happen to scroll throught the comments on my last post, and I'm happy cos Liz posted and its always nice when ya mates post that they like something, but what scared me was the "see you Saturday". I was stumped. totally, and I'm thinking nah nah the crops not til Dec and I won't be here for that one, the product preview is on Monday.. what the !? is happening on Saturday!!! it took me a while, then I remembered, its a card making morning.... full of cards...... so I don't need to be busting my gut making these bl**dy cards, cos I'm booked in for a few hours of it next week, I feel like a twit now, thinking I was so organised (Hurry up Tona, takes ages for your cards to get here so you better start making me one!)
So on that happy note I am going to bed. I have defrosted the bacon, cleaned the pan and organised it so when his majesty wakes up he can have his breakfast with the least amount of whinging.

Oh Kelly! I thought you were a nice girl!

But NO. I toddle along to check your blog... and read about the adorable Angus puppy thats growing well, and the boys and their athletics, giggle about you being in charge of sprints.. cos I just can't see you sprinting... oh hang on! I reckon for a good enough prize you might be tempted to jog at least? LOVED your tough love mummy efforts in getting the boy out of bed and ready early without making your voice horse with repeating yourself.
anyway, I keep reading, and find the SKETCH.
Its now 2.30am and I realllly should get to bed, but first I have to show you tonights efforts, all based on the Verve sketch and Kelly's cards.
And! after a few tries, I figured out the bow/knot thing!!!! I'm pretty proud of myself for figuring it all on my own! its a wonder I was ever bought lace up sneakers... I honestly do recall getting a pair of velcro sneakers.. I wonder why!

Beth found me a new blog!

I like seeing new blogs and this one is pretty neat, another card making blog (there is also the paper crafters blog too) and it had a cute card sketch... so of course, I cleared hmm 6 square inches and started it, THIS is why I never get stuff done! I'm half way through something else, and then something else pretty catches my eye... desk is rarely clean and tidy! (perhaps I need a new one?) anyway my take on the sketch:

and another one

This is for my girlfriend, I got to use hearts for once!

Felt thingies

I adore Niella's felt creations, and today I *stumbled* into spotlight and *stumbled* out with a pile of felt sheets, and with lovely time on my hands I made this for one of the girls at work... I'm so impressed I shall be making more thingies right away! perhaps after a wee nana nap.

NZ Dare # 38

I checked the No8 Wired Dare today..... and the new dare went up yesterday, so in keeping with my 2008 personal challenge to complete every No8 dare this year, i started immediately,

that was about 2pm this afternoon, now its 1.11am and i have FINISHED IT! admittedly it was a card rather than a layout, but i did especially like the challenge so here it is:
* The challenge was to make a valentines card using a photo, (ive used 2 even!)
* The quote is: Love is like the ocean, It may have storms, but it will always see clear in the end. (Anon)
